Mentor's role and Registration

This is a great opportunity to give back to the university you graduated from and to continue to be connected with us.

Mentor’s role is one that varies depending on each student with whom you correspond. You and your Mentee will eventually decide what to communicate about, how often, and your preferred means of communication.

Mentor is an experienced figure to whom the student can turn:

  • To help define or clarify career or academic goals
  • To share how to overcome setbacks or obstacles
  • To provide specific career-related information
  • To provide suggestions on how to transition from school to workplace
  • To listen and to encourage when in doubt

 What does a Mentor gain?

  • A continued relationship with your graduating university and community
  • A connection with people who share your same values and professional interests
  • A chance to develop your leadership and communication skills
  • An opportunity to reach out to a new pool of young talent

 A Mentor should:

  • Have the desire to help others
  • Be available within a reasonable amount of time
  • Provide useful feedback
  • Articulate clear, specific answers
  • Be willing to admit when he/she cannot help and offer alternatives
  • Be non-judgmental
  • Be willing to share professional and academic insights
  • Maintain his/her mentorship role until the end of the agreed academic year
